Prescription Drop Box

The Garden City Police Department and Finney County Sheriff's Office received a grant that provided a secure prescription drop box so that citizens could discard their old and unused prescription and over-the-counter drugs in a safe, convenient, and responsible means.

The National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators (NADDI) provided the drop box which is valued at $1,000.

The drop box has been secured in the lobby of the Finney County Law Enforcement Center. Anyone may come in anytime to discard their unused/old prescriptions or over-the-counter drugs and remain anonymous. Citizens may bring in pills, liquids or powdered prescriptions, or drugs. These items can remain in their proper containers, however any liquid forms should be placed in a zip lock bag before it is dropped in the container. No syringes will be accepted. All prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs will be disposed of properly.

Both the Garden City Police Department and the Finney County Sheriff's Office have been involved in the National Prescription Take-Back Day for the past four years. Several pounds of prescription drugs are turned in each year in Garden City to be disposed of properly.

The purpose of this drop box is to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs.
